Could This be the First Instance of Fake News?
St. Patrick’s Day is upon us. All across America, people will put on their green, pick up a Shillelagh, march in parades, claim to be Irish, even kiss the blarney stone.
But how many of them know that St. Patrick never wore green, didn’t parade around, likely never heard of a Shillelagh (it’s a walking stick), wasn’t Irish, likely didn’t kiss any kind of stone and wasn’t even named Patrick.
In fact, he was born in 385AD of Roman parents in England. His given name was Maewyn Succat. So maybe we should be celebrating “St. Maewyn’s Day” each March 17th?
